NASA’s Discoveries🌎

The Silent Giants: How NASA’s  Discoveries Are Rewriting Our  Cosmic History🌎 For generations, the night sky was little more than a backdrop for human storytelling—a vast, twinkling mystery that felt eternally out of reach. But in 1958, that relationship shifted forever. With the birth of NASA, we stopped merely looking at the stars and started listening to them. Through a combination of daring lunar landings, robotic scouts on the Martian surface, and the infrared "eyes" of the James Webb Space Telescope, we’ve pulled back the curtain on a universe that is far more active, violent, and beautiful than we ever dared to imagine. Understanding these revelations isn't just for astrophysicists in lab coats. It’s for all of us. Every pixel returned from a deep-space probe tells us something about our own origin story and the fragile, unique balance that allows life to thrive on our "Pale Blue Dot." When we look at these findings, we aren't just looking at c...

MIND BLOWING FACTS ABOUT COMPUTERS

Whenever I hear the word computers, I am astonished at how much has been advanced in technology. Computers have transformed our world, from massive machines that occupied entire rooms to tiny gadgets that we now carry in our hands. I'd like to share some shocking and incredible computer facts in this post that I find fascinating, and I'm sure you will too!

⚙️ 1. The Original Computer Wasn't What You'd Imagine

When one hears the word "computer," they typically think of laptops or desktops. But did you know the original computer ever constructed, the ENIAC, weighed about 27 tons and occupied 1,800 square feet? That's roughly the space of a little house! Try to imagine hauling that around.

2. Your Smartphone Is More Powerful Than NASA's Computers (in 1969)

Yes, believe it! The computers NASA employed to put the first humans on the Moon in 1969 were much less powerful than your current smartphone. Is not it ridiculous that we have something so powerful in our pockets.

3. The First Computer Virus Was Created Just for Fun

Way back in 1986, two Pakistani brothers invented the first computer virus, named Brain. They did not intend any damage — they simply wished to safeguard their medical software against piracy. But it spread accidentally across the globe. And that's how the entire history of viruses started!

⌨️ 4. The "Bug" in Computers Was Really a Real Bug

You’ve probably heard the term “computer bug.” But here’s the fun part — in 1947, a moth got trapped inside a computer at Harvard, causing an error. The engineers called it a “bug,” and the name stuck ever since!

5. The First Computer Game Was Made in 1958

Way, way prior to PlayStations or computers for gaming, there was a game named Tennis for Two developed by physicist William Higinbotham. It was exhibited on an oscilloscope — a laboratory instrument — and it was the very first computer game.

 6. Each Minute, Approximately, 570 New Websites Are Developed

Can you believe it? The internet grows faster than we can blink! Every minute, several hundred new websites are launched. That's thousands more by the time you've read this post!

7. Computers Can Get "Tired" Too

Yes, sort of! When computers are used for a long time, they may get overheated or sluggish since their internal parts are strained. That is why resting them (or rebooting) makes them work optimally — just like human beings.

 8. The Term "Computer" Initially Meant Individuals

Before the advancement of machines, humans who did calculations manually were referred to as "computers." These human computers worked in observatories, research institutions, and even NASA missions.

9. The Fastest Supercomputer Can Do Trillions of Calculations for each Second

The latest supercomputers, like Japan's Fugaku, process more than 400 quadrillion of calculations per second. We can not even imagine that!

10. The Internet We See Is Just the Tip of the Iceberg

Most individuals surf the surface  of the web, but there is a giant hidden layer referred to as the deep web, private databases, research networks, and government archives, for example. It's estimated to be 500 times bigger than the apparent internet!

 Final Thoughts

Computers are no longer mere machines — they're now our everyday friends, instructors, helpers, and even our entertainers.  For me, I find it interesting the way a device that began as a intricate calculator now drives our world in ways we cannot even imagine.

Technology continues to evolve, who knows that the next generation of computers will bring? One thing’s for sure that the story of computers is far from over.
